I like how this site is advocating new and existing parents to learn how to react in an emergency. On a related note the CPR training for children and adults are a little bit different than that of an infant. I would also encourage parents (all people actually) to at least get a cognitive concept of what to do. There are resources that offer this www.ProCPR.org being one of them that offers the knowledge for free. It would be a good idea to refresh these CPR skills and perhaps get some hands on experience with a mannequin as well.
